As I am writing this it is after our first afternoon of camp!! We started off amazing!!! SO thankful to be here and to be a part of such an amazing experience! I truly do love Fusion Camp with such a passion, bursts of energy flood through me! (It is quite a sight to see if I do say so myself)
The theme for camp this year is “Home” and I am so pumped for it this year. We’re telling stories of the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, and the Prodigal Son, and let me tell you. They are pretty stinking good. I was telling some people on my team earlier this month about what the word “found” means to me and I think I want to share with you guys the impact of it for me.
So, I could go into some metaphorical theme of it in English but instead I will explain the implications in Sign Language, oooooooooo. Awesome.
So the word “found” in American Sign Language (ASL), is made with your dominant hand out -palm down- hand making the motion upward as if you are picking something up by just your pointer finger and your thumb… I hope that made sense. If not just FaceTime me and I’ll show you.
This sign holds a lot of meaning in my heart because it signifies something that’s found, typically from the “Lost & Found.” But I like to take it further it can also be used as “single out,” “pick up,” or even “chosen” in some cases.
That’s powerful. Chosen. To be found in a home. Chosen FOR a home. Whoa. I think this is something I have to learn everyday. Identity is something I wrestle with and God’s goodness has shone through. It’s been amazing.
I’m so glad Home is the theme, because I think there is always importance in reminding yourself of those topics in day to day life. The concept of “found” really runs that straight to the heart and reveals to me that I am always in the presence of home. If you know what I mean.
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
Romans 8:11, ESV
I love this verse.
1) It basically says that because of the fact God raised Jesus from the dead He will raise you to life. That’s pretty legit.
2) It also gives this notion that His Spirit dwells in you also. His Spirit has a home in you.
I think we take that for granted. I take that for granted. That God’s Spirit, when we take the steps to know Him, will make His home in us.
That’s pretty cool. Pretty stinkin cool.
So I’m diving into this camp with open arms, ready to see what all it has in store. And I believe it is going to be awesome.
Be on the lookout for some social media posts, (I’ll try to post some this week, I’m on full speed ahead at the moment so bear with me). But I truly do love camps and I for sure have already decided that this camp is great. We have 5 days until our Fusion Concert and it is going to be SO much fun. Look out for that!!
